Target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA Conformance

Oil Rigs Now, LLC is committed to making our website accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This statement describes our current conformance status, known limitations, and how to contact us with accessibility concerns.

1. Our Commitment

Oil Rigs Now serves buyers and sellers of oilfield equipment worldwide, including individuals who may rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice control software, keyboard-only navigation, or magnification tools. We believe access to equipment listings, pricing information, and contact options should not be a barrier for anyone.

We are actively working to:

Ensure all pages meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria
Test with common assistive technologies (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS)
Provide accessible alternatives for any content that cannot be made fully accessible
Respond promptly to accessibility feedback and remove barriers

2. Standards We Target

Our target standard is WCAG 2.1 Level AA as defined by the W3C. This standard is organized around four principles:

Perceivable — Information and user interface components must be presentable in ways all users can perceive.
Operable — User interface components and navigation must be operable by all users.
Understandable — Information and operation of the UI must be understandable.
Robust — Content must be robust enough to be interpreted by current and future assistive technologies.

We also aim to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (for federal agency users in the United States) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) where applicable.

3. Accessibility Features Implemented

The following accessibility features are implemented on oilrigsnow.com:

Navigation & Structure

A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation.

Heading Hierarchy

Pages use a logical h1→h2→h3 heading structure with no skipped levels.

ARIA Landmarks

header, main, nav, footer, and region landmarks are used throughout to help screen reader users navigate page sections.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements (navigation, filters, search, buttons, links) are reachable and operable via keyboard Tab/Enter/Space/Escape.

Visual Design

Color Contrast

Body text (#E8E6E1 on #081A33) achieves a contrast ratio of 13.5:1 — well above the 4.5:1 AA minimum. Gold accent (#C9A45C on dark navy) achieves 5.6:1 for large text.

Focus Indicators

All focusable elements display a 2px gold (#C9A45C) outline on keyboard focus. Focus indicators are never suppressed.

Text Scaling

Font sizes use rem/em units. The layout reflows correctly when browser text is scaled to 200%.

No Color-Only Information

Status badges (Available, For Sale, Sold) use both color and text labels. No information is conveyed by color alone.

Images & Media

Alt Text

All informative images have descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images use empty alt="" so screen readers skip them.

Image Fallbacks

If a rig image fails to load, an accessible fallback placeholder is displayed with appropriate messaging.

Forms & Interactive Elements

Form Labels

All form inputs (search, filters, contact forms) have associated <label> elements or aria-label attributes.

ARIA Attributes

Buttons, toggles, and interactive controls use aria-label, aria-expanded, aria-controls, and aria-live as appropriate.

Error Handling

Form validation errors are associated with specific fields and announced to screen readers via aria-live regions.

Cookie Consent

The cookie consent banner is keyboard-navigable, uses role="dialog", and has focus management so it does not trap keyboard users.

4. Known Limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to resolve them:

AI chat widget: The third-party AI chat widget that will be integrated in a future release may have accessibility limitations. We will ensure it meets WCAG 2.1 AA before launch and will provide a text-based email alternative at all times.
PDF documents: Equipment specification sheets provided by third parties may not be fully accessible. Contact us and we will provide the information in an accessible format.
Legacy rig pages: Some individual rig listing pages were generated from PDF content and may have limited structure. We are improving these progressively.
Mobile navigation: The mobile menu is keyboard accessible but may not fully announce state changes in all screen reader/browser combinations. We are testing and improving this.

5. Third-Party Content

Our website embeds or links to content from third-party providers, including:

Google Fonts — typography loaded from Google's CDN
Google Analytics — analytics only activated after user consent
AI chat widget — planned integration; accessibility will be verified before deployment

We cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party content or services. Where third-party content creates a barrier, we will provide an accessible alternative.
