1. What Is the AI Chat Assistant?

Oil Rigs Now uses an AI-powered chat assistant on our website to help visitors find equipment information, answer common questions, and connect with our team. The assistant is a software system trained to respond to questions about oilfield equipment and the Oil Rigs Now inventory.

The chat assistant operates automatically and does not involve a human Oil Rigs Now employee unless you are explicitly transferred to one. It is visible as a floating chat icon in the lower-right corner of the page and displays an AI indicator label so you always know you are communicating with an automated system.

2. What the AI Assistant Knows

The AI assistant is designed to help with:

• Information about drilling rigs and oilfield equipment generally (types, specifications, industry terminology)
• The Oil Rigs Now equipment inventory listed on this website
• General information about how to request a quote or contact our team
• Navigation and use of the Oil Rigs Now website

The assistant's knowledge is based on information available at the time it was configured. Inventory and pricing information may not reflect real-time availability.

3. Limitations of the AI Assistant

Specifically, the AI assistant:

• Cannot confirm real-time equipment availability — availability changes frequently; contact us directly to confirm
• Cannot provide binding pricing — all price information from the AI is indicative only; a formal written quotation from Oil Rigs Now is required
• Cannot commit to any contract, sale, or agreement — no statement made by the AI constitutes an offer, acceptance, or binding commitment
• Cannot provide engineering or technical certification — always engage qualified oilfield engineers for technical decisions
• May make errors or provide outdated information — AI systems can produce incorrect responses; verify important information directly with our team
• Does not replace human judgment — purchasing decisions involving significant capital should involve direct consultation with our experienced team

Oil Rigs Now is not liable for any decisions made in reliance on AI chat responses.

4. Conversation Data & Privacy

When you use the chat assistant, your conversation content is collected and processed. Here is how that data is handled:

• Collection: The content of your messages and the AI's responses are logged.
• Purpose: Logs are used to improve the quality of the AI assistant, investigate complaints, and ensure the assistant operates correctly.
• Storage: Conversation logs may be retained for up to 12 months.
• Third-party processing: Conversations are processed by our AI service provider under a data processing agreement. The provider is not authorized to use your conversation data for its own purposes.
• No sensitive data: Do not share sensitive personal information, financial account details, passwords, export-controlled technical data, or confidential business information in the chat.
• Access and deletion: You may request access to or deletion of your conversation data by contacting us at michael@oilrigsnow.com.

6. Acceptable Use of the Chat

• Extract or reproduce proprietary Oil Rigs Now business information for competitive purposes
• Submit content that violates any applicable laws

We reserve the right to terminate chat sessions and block users who misuse the chat feature.

8. California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) Disclosure

California Penal Code § 631 prohibits the intentional interception or recording of electronic communications without the consent of all parties. Oil Rigs Now provides the following disclosure in compliance with this law:

• The AI chat widget transmits your messages to an external AI service provider in real time.
• You are notified that you are communicating with an AI system before sending any message (via the badge and this disclosure page).

This disclosure applies to all visitors, including California residents. Non-California residents should be aware that similar laws may apply in their jurisdictions.

9. AI Phone Receptionist

In addition to the AI chat widget on this website, Oil Rigs Now uses an AI-powered phone receptionist to answer incoming calls to 713-565-0747. The AI phone receptionist:

• Answers calls automatically and can respond to questions about our inventory, services, and how to request a quote
• Has the same limitations as the chat assistant — it cannot confirm real-time equipment availability, provide binding pricing, or commit Oil Rigs Now to any contract
• Can transfer your call to a human representative at any time — say "speak to a human" or "transfer to a person" or press zero

Our AI phone receptionist is powered by Retell AI. By calling our number, you acknowledge that the initial response may be from an AI system.

10. Call Recording & Consent (CIPA § 632)

Calls to Oil Rigs Now may be recorded for quality assurance, staff training, and service improvement. Under California Penal Code § 632 and similar all-party consent statutes in approximately 12 other states, we are required to notify all parties before recording a telephone conversation.

By continuing the call after this disclosure, you consent to recording under California Penal Code § 632 and equivalent statutes. If you do not consent to being recorded, please disconnect and contact us by email at info@oilrigsnow.com or submit a form at our Quote page.

States Requiring All-Party Consent for Recording

Our call-start disclosure satisfies all-party consent requirements in: California (CIPA), Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, Connecticut, Delaware, and Nevada. If you call from one of these states and do not hear the recording notice, inform our representative immediately.

International Callers & GDPR

For EU, UK, and Canadian callers: call recording relies on the lawful basis of legitimate interests under GDPR (quality assurance, dispute resolution). You may object to recording at the start of any call. Under PIPEDA, implicit consent is established by the opening disclosure.

7. Changes to This Disclosure

We may update this disclosure when we change AI providers, update the assistant's capabilities, or change how conversation data is handled. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date on this page.
